皇家检控署是如何决定是否要检控、检控谁、以什么罪名检控，以及检控的大致流程，这样的主题少见且吸引人。第一季每集有两个刑事案，事故致死、抢劫、连环谋杀、谋杀未遂、弑亲、猥亵。可以看到检察官们对案件的分析、取证、上庭准备，与受害人和被告沟通等。印象深刻的是第一集11岁少年车祸身亡，他母亲等了1年多得到法庭结果后对被告的谅解，太泪目了，很客观很不容易的一个母亲。
