　　人到中年的德米特（雅克·迪特隆 Jacques Dutronc 饰）本以为自己会就这样平淡的走完一生，哪知道经由医生的诊断，自己竟然患上了不治之症，只剩下最后几个月的人生了。德米特进入了一家疗养院，决定在这里度过他最后的时光。
　　刚刚进入疗养院的德米特非常不能够适应这里充满了死亡气息的氛围，看着周围的人一个接着一个的死去，德米特感到非常的抑郁和压抑。但随着时间的推移，德米特意外的发现，他的病友们并非各个都对死亡充满了恐惧，恰恰相反，他们因为死期将至，反而绽放出了更强烈的生之欲望。在疗养院里，德米特解释了美丽的女义工苏珊（桑德里娜·伯奈尔 Sandrine Bonnaire 饰）。
