本片大胆剖析越南女性的「性压抑」现况，让越南导演潘党迪(Phan Dang Di)闯出名号，获亚洲电影节亚洲新导演奖、坎城影展国际影评人奖及最佳编剧奖。内容虽经过越南政府严格审查修剪，但对社会与人性的细腻刻划则在上映后获得观众高度共鸣。
